Not even close to wordless wednesday

What a crazy day we had yesterday. It started out when the bloggers over at Two Special Wires and White Dog Diary sent me this email:

OK out there I need help saving Eskie pup set to euthanized Wed. We'll adopt him;have a ride for him to ABQ. we need someone to go to LA Animal Control and rep us. LAAC says, we must go today with $100 (cash or check...I canPayPal you), a CA ID and put a hold on the dog. THEN they give a pickup date. Friends will drive from San Diego to get him and bring himbut can't do two trips to LA (Lancaster). HELP SAVE THIS BOY

I hemmed and hawed. I wanted to help but it is 70 miles from me and with LA traffic it would easily be 2.5 hours each way since I had to work first. I reached out to Alex (check out the cute sleepover pics) since I have yet to get a CA ID and said "are you up for a road trip to save this pup?" and of course she was ready to help. We were all set to go when we got a last minute email stating that someone closer to him would be picking him up. A small part of me was happy to not have to make the long drive but a big part of me was sad that I wouldn't be the person who got to pull him but in the end I knew he would be going to a loving home. To say the day was an emotional roller coaster is an understatement! Its reasons like this that I am not a foster parent because I was already attached to this pup I had never seen!

I am hoping all works out well as there were some last minute changes with the pup. Now I am off to hem and haw about how to break the big news....

It's always hard to know when to ask for help. We had an idea that there was a pretty big distance for you. But it was the pup's and the family's interests we had in mind. Thank you soooo much for your part in this. We are just hoping that the "big news" is good news, or at least manageable news. We're sort of on pins and needles now ... personally knowing how unpredictable rescue situations can be.

Thank you again. We mean it from the bottom of our hearts.

We're so glad that everything worked out ~~ love happy endings.

We're in Northern California - keep us in mind if transportation is ever needed in the San Jose area.

*phew I scanned ahead, didn't read that someone else got him! Was thinking the worse, but I understand your feelings...I couldn't foster a dog I knew I "could" keep. My guide dog puppies, I know aren't mine from the beginning which makes it a little easier to give them back.

You still helped in some capacity, and that's more than most of us can say!

How lucky that he's going to find a home.

You were instrumental in making the adoption of my new little brother possible. It was your kindness, energy, and willingness to change the world by saving this little guy that focused enough paw power to make it happen. Thanks for riding the wave with us. We should, paws crossed that everything goes smoothly from here on, have him in our arms Sat. night. We are so grateful to you.

It was a pretty crazy day for us. *Whew* We deserve a glass of wine and a good ball toss with the pups! :)

All the unwanted animals make us so furry sad :( We are lucky to live in a country with almost no unwanted dogs but sometimes we wish the shelters were closer so that we could help.

So glad to find that it all worked out for this pup! My sister and her friend run a rescue and we've taken in foster dogs for short periods until they could be transported, so we know how desperate you can get to save one of these pups! Linda (OC's Mom)

It is good to know that you are there to help, and that alone matters a lot. A happy ending is always heart warming.

We are quite curious what the big news is about.

We think it's wonderful that you were willing to help Quinn. He is such a gentle and sweet boy, and we were lucky to get to meet him on his stopover in Phoenix. His new family LOVES him. It's scary to know how close he was to losing his life.

Thanks SO much for offering to help get Quinn rescued. Maybe you didn't get to go to Lancaster, but you certainly gave all of us some wonderful relief that there was someone who cared enough to take their time to save his life. How awesome is that??

You DID make a difference!!
