So when we adopted Baily, we left for vacation a week later. Luckily a friend of ours in AK had been wanting a puppy so she willingly looked after an 8 week old, un-housebroken pup. The only issue that came our of it is that Baily thought she was a yellow lab (our friend had two). When she went to daycare a month later, they told us she only wanted to play with the yellow labs. Crazy Baily.
This time, we brought in Big Carl and then left two days later. We are now up in Alaska doing a late holiday with the family. Our wonderful dogsitter is with our three who are settling in together but it isn't the easiest situation. Carl still has some accidents in the house but luckily everything is tile or hard wood so it isn't the hardest to clean up.
Baily still isn't too sure about whats going on. Mesa has accepted it. Big Carl thinks life is great and that Mesa's jowls are chew toys. We got a smaller bed for Carl that both of the girls keep trying to sleep on but they seem very confused as to why it is so small.

How cute! Poor pibbles think they are teeny tiny wee ones. I don't think they ever understand they're big boys and girls.

Love that last picture. The expression is priceles.. Hugs GJ x
How funny! I think dogs definitely do recognize breeds and have favorites. Cabana goes bonkers whenever she sees big fluffy dogs like huskies or samoyeds.
Hope you're having a fun time in AK!!
P.S. Cabana would love to play with Baily someday and bring back some of her childhood yellow lab memories!
hello! can we add you (:?
Oh boy Big Carl.. at least your piddles are small. Have a great Trip! I think all will be fine.

Big Carl sure looks like he is feeling right at home in that pic. Enjoy your trip - the pups will be very excited to show you how much they miss you when you return - the best part of going away and then coming home:)
Woos, Phantom and Thunder
Well... yes, it looks like a very small bed for the 3 of them!
I am sure everything is going to be ok!

BC has no idea of his size, huh?
Where are you in AK? I'll be heading back up in March for the Iditarod again! Flying out to Rainy Pass checkpoint this year!
Have a nice visit w/ your family!

Alaska sounds like heaven! Big Carl looks very cozy with his sisters.

hmmm.... we think you should get BIGGER beds so that EVERYONE can fit on them at once! :) Sometimes ben thinks he's a cat :/
They were so cute all passed out! And BC was such a "big help" at work :D
Hi! My and I were over at Bijou's and saw your posting! we enjoyed reading your work. Stop by our place some time!
Baily is sooo adorable! But it is quite obvious that Big Carl is large and in charge!!!! Hope your foot recovers quickly so that you can get back to the puppers! It's great to have our Alex's in life, but let's face it - there's no one like Momto care for us! She always knows best!
hugs & smooches xoxo

oh ok, good. I thought I was the only one with poor timing. After being dogless for just about a year, and still full of grief over my Indiana, I suddenly felt compelled to go through with an adoption.
But I wasn't fully moved into my new home, so bringing in a young untrained dog into a home with unpacked boxes around and not really knowing where things were just yet myself, has been a bit of a challenge. But it's become OUR challenge. And she's already stopped chewing on box corners after just a few weeks.
But I would have been extremely upset if I had waited until I had my new home all sorted out, and then found out this little one on death row was gone.
Somethings just have to happen I guess, whether they fit into our schedules or not.
and I'm pretty sure these dogs of ours are worth it.
Good luck!
