Took the girls hiking for the first time since we left AK. It was very interesting as they are not at all used to hiking in this heat and the trails are not what we are used to. We were only able to go for an hour since it was so warm and after three hours at home they were ready to go out for more play. This is a huge change from when we used to be able to hike 6 hours and they didn't get out of bed for a couple of days!
On the left is a picture from one of my favorite AK hikes, Near Point
Edit- We haven't been hiking since leaving norcal for LA. The weather here is not good for hiking unless its winter and with my foot its just not been possible. Near Point is 3400ft in elevation gain and about 10 miles (we only did 8 that day).

What a great picture. We haven't been hiking, either, and though we're dying to get back out into our little patch of woods (which is actually an impressive trail system for an urban place), the weather has really limited us.
This pic is great. We used to go hiking with Molly, but now that she's 12 she can't go like she used to. We're hoping that'll be able to take Nemo with us sometime but dogs aren't allowed on a lot of trails here. Melanie has never been an "outdoor" dog ...
That is a really fantastic shot!
Bet you guys had lots of fun despite the heat

awesome picture!!! your dogs are so lucky. they get to have all these awesome experiences with you.
I have to admit, we never go hiking. My guys would probably love it though! Great picture!
Have a Happy Monday!

That's a beautiful picture! I love to hike too but can relate to the foot injury being in the way. Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
You live in such great hiking cities. We envy your adventures.
You could always come visit us - it has been snowing FOREVER. We are supposed to get a break today and tomorrow, and then more snow on Wednesday. I think we moved to the North Pole and no one bothered to tell me.... Our hiking trails are so muddy that Mom is having to resort to the paved 'multi-use' trails. *sigh*

Aww, this makes me want to go hiking again!! It's been a long time. (According to my dogs, its been YEARS since we've been hiking - but I think their perception of time is a little bit skewed).
It looks like someone had to take a break halfway up the mountain. "Wait! Emergency nap!"
What a great photo - the pups here would probably love hiking, but the Momster says she is too old.

I certainly prefer your new address to your old one! Although, Momma has always said she wants to visit AK and could probably even live there. She actually likes that white stuff.
Maybe you will get to find some snow up in the mountains somewhere....?

That looks like the pawfect place for a hike.:)

Wow, that looks like a lot of fun and what a great picture!

Hiking looks like lots of fun!
Looks like a blast - I love those booties!
That is an awesome picture. Levi would never survive LA. He's already dying from the "heat" even in the morning when it's still in the 60s! I've come to realize that Levi and I have about the same very small window for comfort when it comes to temperature. We need to find a city that is perpetually in the 50s.
This pic is so joyous. You can tell they miss it!
That is a very much wonderful picture! It looks like it would be really really fun to do! I overheard my dad talking to my mom yesterday and saying something about maybe going on a hike this weekend. I am SO excited! Aren't hikes the BEST?

Very cool photo. Sorry to hear your mama's foot is not good. Our mom isn't very good at really long hikes either since she has fibromyalgia. Daddy is really good at going for long hikes though.Sure bet you miss AK!!
